History

On these pages we would like to tell the story of how
it all began, and where we are standing today.

Lajban's Wicked Wildcat

Our breeding is founded on the two bitches, Int NUCh NV 91-93 Brigadoon Scarlet’s Nimblewit>>, Scarlet, bred by Sigrun Wallqvist, and Lajban’s Wicked Wildcat>>, Aurora, bred by Laila Dysjeland. All dogs bred by ourselves have at least got one of these two in their pedigree.

Aurora was a black and white bitch, a natural hunter and through all these years, ”leader of the pack” at Nimblewhit.

Aurora’s sire, NUCh Lajban’s Sportin Life, is by Rowntree Brown Bannoch, who is linebred to the well known Int Nord UCh Adamant’s Chocolate Dream. His dam is N SFUCh Lajban’s Rhapsody In Joy Of Life from the famous litter by Nordstrandshøydens Guts ex NUCh Inu-goya Autumn Rhapsody.

Aurora’s dam NUCh Dragonqueen’s Calamaty Jane, is bred in Sweden, and was imported to Norway by Lajla Dysjeland and Preben Landmark.

NUCh Inu-goya Autumn Dew

Her sire is NUCh Inu-goya Country Squire, who in his turn is son of the top winning NUCh Inu-goya Autumn Dew out of NUCH Travis Aelia. Autumn Dew was by the way springer of the year 82-83-84, and sired 16 champions. The mother, Windsong’s Dragonqueen, is a daughter of Pygmalias Pygmalion, with lines going back to the legendary Cleavehill kennel, and Windsong Rosyribbon, a daughter of Teesview Tillanburn, brought to Sweden by Lena Thorslund.

Int NUCh NV 91-93 Brigadoon Scarlet’s Nimblewit

Scarlet is among Norway’s most prolific winners in the ring. Many have spoken of her as outstanding, both in the ring and as a brood. To us she forever will remain a ”once in a lifetime dog”.

Int N SFUCh Brigadoon New Generation of York

Scarlet’s dad, Int N SFUCh Brigadoon New Generation Of York, has put his stamp on the English Springer Spaniel first and foremost in Sweden and Finland, but also in Norway, through Scarlet and her descendants, and in the combination with NUCh Cleavhill National Velvet at the Inu-goya kennel. New Generation of York is the result of a bitch imported in whelp to well-known GBCh Ardencote Alexander. Alexander’s sire GBCh Cliffhill Julius, who is full brother of GBShCh NUCh Cliffhill Juliet who Sigrun imported to Sweden. The dam, GBShCh Ardencote Tapestry, is by GBShCh Hawkhill Connaught, a dog who is behind most of the springers of today. Mother of New Generation of York is the black-white and tan GBShCh NUCh Skilleigh Tangy, where the father, GBShCh Teesview Top Notch is out of the beautiful bitch GBShCh Teesview Pandora Of Truelindale. Tangy’s dam, Skilleigh Tan Cam, is a daughter of well-known GBShCh Cleavhill Tan Man.

NUCh Brigadoon Reverie

Scarlet’s mum, Brigadoon Travellers Scarlet, was a ”true” Brigadoon. Her sire is NUCh Brigadoon Plume’s September Mist, a familiar dog in Norwegian show rings in the eighties. September Mist’s father was Cliffhill Huggy Bear, imported to Norway by Kari Haave, and later sold to kennel Brigadoon. The mother of Travellers Scarlet , NUCh Brigadoon Travellers Joy, also gave birth to N SFUCh Brigadoon Travellers Dityrambix, who has sired good stock in Finland, and he was exported to kennel Hightide. NUCh Brigadoon Red Grouse, Travellers Joy’s mother, and Scarlet’s great grandmother, is by NUCh Brigadoon Reverie out of NUCh Brigadoon Donnettadaughter. Reverie, an incredibly beautiful dog, is linebred to GBShCh Woodbay Prima Donna, and they both carry lines back to GBShCh Northdown Donna, who is mother of Northdown Donetta, Sigrun’s first import, and foundation bitch at kennel Brigadoon. Donetta had her first litter in 1963 by SUCh SJCh Pelsøs Don, the legend from the hunting fields and the show rings. In this litter Donettadaughter was born and so were four more champions. Among these Int Nord UCh SJCh Brigadoon Dan achieved the highest merits.

Scarlet had her first litter in -90. She was mated to Gofield Gentle Jack, owner Lillemor Natt och Dag. This was to be the first ever Nimblewhit litter, and we kept the bitch NUCh Nimblewhit Amusing Nature>>.

One year later, in -91 Aurora was brought to NUCh Wadeson Thomas Magnum, imported from England by Laila Dysjeland and Anne Buvik. In this litter we kept the bitch NUCh Nimblewhit Colour My World>>.

In -92 it was time for our first litter from a bitch bred by ourselves. NUCh Nimblewhit Amusing Nature was mated to the famous Multi Ch Whisborne Devil In Disguise, owned by the Ulltveit-Moes. In this litter was NUCh Nimblewhit Old Fashioned>>, owner Nina Kjellstrøm. Litter sister Nimblewhit Hot Chocolate>> remained with us.

Later Amusing Nature was bred to NUCh Inu-goya Custom Cruiser, owned by F. Bjerklund/T. Johnsen. It was born three puppies, and NUCh NVCh Nimblewhit Cruising Companion>>, owner Wenche Søreide, was one of them.

NUCh Nimblewhit Colour My World was then mated to NUCH Nimblewhit Old Fashioned in -94, for the first time bringing our two bitch lines together. In this litter we got NUCh Nimblewhit Colourful Dreamboy>>, owner Irene Aase Helland.

A few years later, Colour My World also gave birth to NUCh Nimblewhit Close To Heaven>>

GBShCh N DKCh Chaighmarsh Orchid

In -95 Scarlet was due for her final litter. Ellen Getz Wold and Wenche Farstad had imported GBShCh N DKCh Chaigmarsh Orchid from England, and he was chosen as sire of Scarlet’s last litter. Again we wanted to keep something directly descended from Scarlet, and NUCh Nimblewhit Flower Power>> and litter sister NUCh Nimblewhit Scarlet Impact>> remained here.
Flower Power was gradually used at stud from several kennels in Scandinavia, and he also got some very good offspring. The most profiled is obvious Multi Ch Multi Winner Whisborne Angus Og, who put his stamp on a lot of springers around the world. Another is NUCh Inu-Goya Riverdance, a dog that we used some years later.

We wanted to linebreed from Scarlet, and in -95 was Nimblewhit Hot Chocolate mated to a Scarlet son, Nimblewhit Highlander>> by NUCh Inu-goya Highland Fling ex Scarlet’s Nimblewit. The ensuing litter provided us NUCh Nimblewhit Easter Happiness>>, who has turned out to be the best brood bitch bred here, and you will find her behind all of our present dogs. Among her offspring we have to mention Int Nord Ch Nimblewhit Midnight Affair>> and Int Int. NUCh Nimblewhit Password to Heaven>> as we kept here, and SFCh Nimblewhit Norwegian Fun>> who travelled to Gudrun Degerth at the Dreemteem kennels in Finland.

Nimblewhit Highlander

In -96 Hot Chocolate gave birth to a litter by Spring Creeks Exstra Dry, bred and owned by Sven Løvenkjær. A dog from this litter, SVCh SU(u)Ch Nimblewhit Hot Spot>> was sent to Marlene Berner in Sweden, and has 3 CCs, a price on a hunting trial, and become a tracking-champion. A sister, SVCh Nimblewhit Ronja Hot Dream>> travelled to Kerstin Nord, also in Sweden. She also has a price in the field, became a tracking-champion, and has received a CC.

In -96 was NUCh Nimblewhit Flower Power old enough to be used on our own NUCh Nimblewhit Colour My World, but the ensuing litter only contained two male puppies. The combination was repeated in -97, producing the bitch NVCh SVCh Nimblewhit Oakley Supreme>>, who became Norwegian and Swedish Tracking Champion and qualified in the field very young.
